Located in the rear of the mouth, the wisdom teeth typically arrive in late teenagers or young adults. Some people only have one or two wisdom teeth, while others have none. Typically, there are four wisdom teeth, two lower and two upper.

Even if there is enough space in the mouth to accommodate these teeth, not everyone has to have them pulled, although in many situations, doing so has advantages. Wisdom teeth that are impacted are frequent. This occurs when teeth get caught and never erupt, develop at an angle instead of straight up, or lack the space necessary to fit properly inside the jaw.
